Heide Kiosk in Schneverdingen - Dallmeier Recorder in use for over 10 years

Schneverdingen lies in the wonderfully beautiful natural landscape of the Luneburg Heath. Copious expanses of heather, blooming junipers, grazing German moorland sheep – and a kiosk, which has supplied natives and tourists alike, with all the essentials for over 50 years. For over 10 years, a Dallmeier recorder has been reliably used there. Now the system has been updated with the newest Dallmeier HD technology.

The Heide Kiosk in Schneverdingen was established in the middle of the 1950s and since then has sold a wide range of products: tobacco goods, newspapers, drinks, snacks and much more. The kiosk was taken over and modernised by the Lüders family in 1999. Back then during the renovations, a video surveillance system was installed – and the choice fell to a Dallmeier Wavelet DLS 18 recorder.  “The recorder ran for over 10 years with no problems,” said kiosk owner, Edith Lüders. Now however, Mrs Lüders wanted to switch over to the newest HD technology. “I had seen the Dallmeier camera demo recordings and was simply impressed by the brilliance of the images. Therefore I swapped my previous cameras for Dallmeier cameras.”

Good images with backlight
The sales room, including the cash register and customer window are monitored (the customers do not actually enter the kiosk itself, instead they are served at the window), as well as the stock and the outside areas around the kiosk. For each area, the suitable Dallmeier camera was chosen: a high-definition box camera for the cash and sales area, a high-resolution dome camera for the stock and vandal-resistant dome cameras for the facades and outside areas.

The customer window is often dominated by strong backlight, likewise in the stock room with a lamp directly in the camera area. For the originally installed cameras, these difficult lighting conditions posed an unsolvable challenge. But with the new Dallmeier cameras, shadowed faces or blooming and smear effects are things of the past. This is made possible by Cam_inPIX® technology, developed by the company itself, with which the picture information of each individual pixel is converted digitally at the point of capture and processed in the most optimal way. Therefore, even situations with a great range in contrast can be recorded and documented in picture qualities previously unseen.

Small, practical, reliable.
In order to be able to record off the new high-definition network cameras, the DLS 18, which was still fully functioning after over 10 years, had to be replaced with a new device. “I was very satisfied with the DLS 18, therefore the new recording system was also to be from Dallmeier”, explained Edith Lüders. The VideoNetBox, an efficient video recording server, was chosen. One of the features is its hybrid functionality, that means IP and analogue cameras can be used together in mixed operation.

For Mrs Lüders there was another pivotal reason: “The VideoNetBox is very small and can be built in extremely practically – it is directly installed in the kiosk and hardly takes up any space. Furthermore, it is very easy to use, I can operate it well.”

Thanks to the new VideoNetBox, Mrs Lüders can always monitor her kiosk, even from home: “I can look at the images of the surveillance cameras at any time from my computer, and check whether everything is under control.“ And she adds: “I’ll possibly even buy the new iPhone app from Dallmeier, then I could really keep an eye on the kiosk everywhere and at any time!”
