Opened in spring 2004, the Hacker-Pschorr Arena in Bad Tölz is among the most aesthetic and most modern ice rinks in Germany. Located amidst the idyllic mountain scenery of Upper Bavaria, the arena attracts more than 130,000 people a year - fans, visitors and active athletes. The Hacker-Pschorr Arena provides an impressive setting for ice sports such as ice hockey and skating but also hosts concerts, indoor sports like boxing or wrestling, conferences, congresses or works meetings.
Seething vibe
The Tölz ice sporting club is one of the leading talent pools of the German ice hockey scene and uses the Hacker-Pschorr Arena as its training facility and home ground. The professional team of the Tölzer Löwen plays in the upper ice hockey league and thus exciting matches and thrilling shots on the goal are guaranteed. So that the enthralled fans inside the Hacker-Pschorr Arena don’t miss any important details the matches are recorded on the Dallmeier DIS recorder and shown on a large video screen. Additionally, during breaks repetitions of the best game scenes are shown and thus no goal or foul goes unnoticed under the watchful eyes of the fans.
Moreover, the most important sequences are posted online and can be downloaded for free. The videos are downloaded by user around the world, from Canada to New Zealand and from Finland to South Africa. Last season, during the play-offs, there were at times more than 500 downloads per day.
Keeping an eye on the ice sheet
During the construction of the Hacker-Pschorr Arena, which has a total capacity of 4,200 attendees, a comprehensive video solution with a big screen was integrated in to the stadium. The video of the Tölzer Löwen as well as the arena itself use the video system for the recording and live transmission onto the video screen, for instance with ice hockey matches. Two cameras above the goals and one mobile camera always keep an eye on the ice sheet.
Then the Dallmeier DIS recorders are employed. The video data are compressed according to the MPEG-2 standard and can be transmitted via the integrated network interface as well as simultaneously recorded on an internal hard disk. Both image and sound quality meet the highest requirements and, depending on the configuration settings, ranges up to DVD quality. The network transmission confirms with international standards and supports Unicast as well as Multicast.
On behalf of the Tölzer Löwen Wolfgang Rieger, Enterprise Business Development Director of the Fast Lane Institute for Knowledge Transfer and five of his colleagues have already been taking care of the system for several years. “The quality of the recordings is simply outstanding! Also, the Dallmeier devices are very user-friendly and the handling is intuitive.”
