Regensburg, 20 November 2019 – For a long time, the ability to monitor large expanses seamlessly and in high resolution with video technology posed a challenge for which businesses could not find an economical solution. This problem was overcome successfully in 2011 with the “Panomera®“ camera technology developed by German manufacturer Dallmeier. Now, eight years after receiving a German patent, the technology is awarded a European patent in recognition of its uniqueness.

In contrast to conventional technologies, which consist for example of a combination of megapixel and PTZ cameras or cameras with “multi-sensor“ capabilities, Panomera® multifocal-sensor systems capture all regions of an area continuously and in highest resolution because the images are stitched together intelligently in one camera system from as many as seven detail sensors plus an overall image sensor. With this technology, the minimum resolution quality can be defined precisely for each region as early as the planning stage, thus ensuring that its data is usable in court or of a quality that permits analysis tasks. Based on this approach, areas or distances can be captured with a much smaller number of camera systems than is the case with conventional solutions.

During surveillance or observation itself, operators can zoom into any number of regions at the same time, while the high-resolution display of the overall event is maintained at all times. This unique Panomera® technology has now been granted European Patent Number 2715692. Any number of zooms can be made with extremely high resolution in all detail regions of the overall event even after the fact, in the backup – an extremely important function in complex situations for example, or for successful forensic analysis.

Future-proof thanks to plannable image quality
At the same time, the Panomera® cameras deliver “blanket coverage“ in high image resolution in the truest sense of the word: In every partial region of the area to be monitored, the image quality does not fall below a defined minimum level. The decisive performance criterion here is the “resolution density“, which is defined in standard DIN EN 62676-4 with the unit “pixels per metre“ (px/m). For example, in order to be able to identify an unknown person, at least 250 px/m are required in the corresponding section of the image. This ensures that the video recordings are usable in court and is also particularly important for video analysis applications (e.g., object classification) for which consistent, precisely planned minimum data quality is essential. This is also especially important with regard to future AI-based analysis procedures, which are not even available on the market yet. With Panomera®, the customer is thus able to ensure corresponding data quality for purposes of protecting their investment with the camera sensor system of today.

Panomera® as most economical solution for video security and data capture
Due to their high image quality over the entire coverage area and the consequently much smaller number of cameras needed, Panomera® cameras also reduce the associated infrastructure expense (cost of masts, erection, wiring, cable routing, installation points, screens to be watched) many times over. Today, thousands of Panomera® systems are already in operational use with operators all over the world. These include stadiums, airports, safe city customers or the manufacturing industry as well as casinos or logistics businesses. The Panomera® solutions can either be operated with Dallmeier Video Management Software (VMS) or integrated in third party systems.

About Dallmeier

Dallmeier: Turn images into assets.
With pioneering video technology from Germany.

In 1984 Dieter Dallmeier founded what is now Dallmeier electronic – not in the proverbial garage, but in a garden shed in Regensburg, Germany. Today, the company, which can justifiably call itself a hidden champion for video information technology "Made in Germany", has several hundred employees worldwide, more than 250 of them at the company headquarters in the centre of Regensburg alone.

Our customers: From commercial enterprises to World Cup stadiums
Dallmeier's camera, recording, software, and analysis solutions optimise security and processes for B2B end customers in a wide range of industries in over 60 countries. The focus is on users from the casino, smart city, airports, logistics, stadiums, and industrial sectors. But also, banks, critical infrastructure facilities as well as medium-sized companies from all sectors.

Low total cost of ownership "Made in Germany"
With pioneering innovations, Dallmeier has succeeded time and again in placing itself at the forefront of technology: From the world's first digital image storage system with motion analysis in 1992, the patented "multifocal sensor technology" Panomera® with its "Mountera®" mounting system, to the latest Domera® camera family, which allows up to 300 camera variants with only 18 components. These and many other innovations provide real, tangible customer benefits. And with a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and a high Return on Investment (ROI) they can easily compete with systems produced and supplied from low-wage countries.

Cybersecurity, data protection and ethical responsibility through maximum vertical integration
With 100% "Made in Germany", we also guarantee our customers the highest standards in data protection, cybersecurity, and ethical responsibility. With high quality and short supply chains, we also ensure – almost incidentally – sustainability and environmental protection. From our prestigious headquarters in the centre of Regensburg, Dallmeier not only carries out its own research and development but also the complete manufacturing process – from component to product to solution.
