Air traffic control in times of staff shortages and cost pressure

Regional airports, in particular, often struggle to recruit and retain air traffic controllers due to unattractive locations and limited career opportunities. As a result, these airports may experience a shortage of qualified personnel, which can lead to safety concerns and operational challenges.
Our remote tower solutions offer “air traffic control as a service”. Highly qualified air traffic controllers and AFIS specialists manage one or more airports from centralized or decentralized locations — with the same familiar working environment as on site.
Advanced camera technology and an ergonomic workstation system ensure efficient operations.
Redundant data centers at two separate locations guarantee maximum reliability. Dual network providers, redundant connections between airports and data centers, and parallel servers, workstations, and software systems ensure uninterrupted operations at all connected airports.

The system is fully scalable and can be customized to meet individual requirements – from a single-monitor setup to multi-monitor configurations or even largeformat monitor wall solutions. Each ATC workstation features motorized height-adjustable desks and individually adjustable monitor positions to ensure optimal ergonomics, whether seated or standing. Personalized ergonomic settings are stored and automatically applied upon user login.

Since November 2023, our Enhanced Surveillance Tower Control (ESTC) is fully operational for remote Air Traffic Control (ATC) .

“For me, the remote tower solution enables a familiar work enviroment with no adjustments needed.
The 360-degree view and having all the key functions integrated on one screen even makes my job much easier.”
