How a digital “Next Germany” can succeed – and what contribution Dallmeier can make to technological sovereignty and innovative strength.
In his speech at the Wirtschaftstag (Economic Day) 2025, the new Federal Minister for Digital and State Modernisation, Dr Karsten Wildberger, provided clear imputs for Germany’s digital future. His call for a “Next Germany” highlights the importance of achieving technological independence and fostering innovation within the country. As a company that has developed and produced in Germany for over 40 years, Dallmeier considers itself in a key role in helping to shape this vision.
Key messages from the speech
Dr Wildberger emphasised that the “Made in Germany” label had brought prosperity and growth to Germany for a long time. He added that now was the time to transfer this successful model into the digital era. He said that a digital “Next Germany” should be characterised by courageous innovation and technological leadership.
He emphasised the importance of digital sovereignty: “This is also about the digital sovereignty of our country. Especially in times of global crises, it is crucial that we are not dependent in this area.” He also emphasised the role of the state as a key customer for technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, semiconductors and cybersecurity. According to Wildberger, data protection and data security remain cornerstones of digital society but must not hinder innovation.
“We see it as our responsibility to play an active role in shaping the vision of a digital Next Germany.”
