Four Questions for... Andreas Franz

For the next interview in our blog series “Four questions for...” we spoke with Andreas Franz, Managing Director of a family-run security installation company with over 50 years of experience. The company Franz Sicherungstechnik GmbH has been using Dallmeier technology since 1996 to serve a wide range of customers. In the interview, Mr. Franz shares why quality, user-friendliness, and scalability are important features of a security product—especially in times of staff shortages.

Mr Franz, your company plans and installs security technology for a wide range of customers. Could you give us a brief introduction?
We are a family-run, medium-sized security installation company specialising in intrusion detection, alarm, video and fire alarm systems. We have been in business for over 50 years. We currently employ 35 people.

You have been using Dallmeier technology for your customers for many years. What prompted you to collaborate with Dallmeier?
Our first Dallmeier digital recorder had the serial number 007 – that was in 1996. Since then we have remained loyal to Dallmeier because of the outstanding quality and durability. Another aspect for us was “Made in Germany” and the ease of use – this has been a recurring theme over the years. If you can operate an “old” Dallmeier, you can operate a new one.

Which Dallmeier products and solutions do you use in your projects and why?
We use the whole range of the portfolio. The scalability is a big advantage – from a 1 camera solution to a “several hundred camera solution”, you can realise every intermediate stage with Dallmeier. And this has always worked perfectly so far. Even when it comes to data protection and integrity, e.g. in banks, a Dallmeier solution is predestined. Finally, the smartphone app offers end customers a convenient way to view their pictures when they are on the move. It is also reassuring to know that a competent support team is available.

Companies specializing in installations are increasingly suffering from staff shortages. In this context, the configuration and installation of the systems takes on particular importance from the installer's point of view. What is the situation with Dallmeier solutions?
On the one hand, Dallmeier cameras are very easy to install – all adjustments can be made “from below” via laptop and network. The different camera models are mechanically compatible, which simplifies stock-keeping and increases flexibility on site. This avoids unnecessary trips to procure materials if a change is required on site.

On the other hand, Dallmeier’s Panomera® technology also offers unique user benefits when it comes to large/long surveillance areas. One Panomera® can replace many single-sensor cameras, offers better analysability and consistently high image quality. At the same time, the installation effort is reduced as fewer components need to be installed.
